In a shocking twist, it’s already time to say goodbye to the gas-powered Cadillac XT6. For better or worse, this SUV is being replaced by a luxurious EV model. This transition should be completed by the spring.

The gas-powered Cadillac XT6 is being replaced by an EV

General Motors has spoken and the Cadillac XT6 is heading to the gallows. This massive, gas-powered SUV is already being discontinued to make room for a new EV.

The electric Cadillac Vistiq will be here soon. It will be built in the Spring Hill plant down in Tennessee. Production of the XT6 will end in the spring. Then the plant will undergo a few updates, so workers can expect some downtime.

According to Electrek, the downtime will start by May 12. Then the three-row electric SUV will enter production. It’s a bit smaller than the Escalade IQ.

The 2025 XT6 has an MSRP of $49,195. The Vistiq starts at about $80k. This is a bummer for some drivers as this more affordable gas-powered SUV costs $30,805 less than the new EV, and it’s going away.

However, the Vistiq does have up to 615 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.7 seconds. It also has a range of 305 miles, which is a fine start. With a DC fast charging station, you can add about 79 miles of range in roughly 10 minutes.

The interior is packed with advanced tech such as a curved 33” LED infotainment display. It has Google built-in, a hands-free driving mode, and a 23-speaker AKG stereo system.
