Sometimes I review cooler cars than others. I judge what’s cool based on how many people approach me to ask questions about what I’m driving. You might be surprised to learn that the 2025 Toyota Sienna is one of the coolest options that drew attention from men and women.

Here’s what makes the 2025 Toyota Sienna cooler than that massive SUV

Recently, at the New York International Auto Show, I was discussing the 2025 Toyota Sienna with fellow auto journalists and nerds. Someone mentioned that now men think mini-vans are cool as women buy SUVs to shed that soccer mom title.

During my week with the Sienna hybrid, many men came up to the vehicle to ask me questions about it and tell me why they would consider buying it. But that attention came from women as well.

I’d like to argue that the mini-van has never truly gone out of style as it serves as one of the most convenient options for families.

For example, it puts you at the center of control, like you’re operating a star fleet. A rear-view mirror lets you glance at your passengers, even in the third row without having to turn around. Meanwhile, in SUVs, I have to turn around to look at how my dog is doing.

Plus, you can open the sliding doors from the driver’s seat or key fob, allowing people to quickly enter and exit the van without getting out. Your kids can jump in as you sit comfortably in the driver’s seat. It’s pretty convenient to not have to get out to close a bulky door.

Getting to the third row is extremely easy for everyone. With large SUVs, I’ve seen kids just jump in and trample the second row with mud and chaos as they climb to the back.

Also, there is a massive storage compartment behind the third-row seats. It dips down below the cargo floor for extra storage. Many SUVs, like the Toyota Sequoia, lack cargo space behind the third row.

The lower liftover height to load larger, bulky items is very convenient. When I was dropped off at college in a truck, my family had to stop and brace to load heavy items.

We would carry something to the truck, take a break, and then brace ourselves to load large pieces of furniture up into the truck bed. The van lets you carry and load items in one swift motion.

There is an unmatched amount of passenger space as well as each row has reclining seats to stretch out and relax in. There are cup holders everywhere of various sizes. They can hold the giant yeti cup and the kid’s tiny water bottles.

By the way, kids are addicted to carrying their water bottles these days, huh? My Sienna model had a built-in cooler, which changed the game.

It keeps seltzer water cold for later and can even keep groceries cool during errands if you run into a store before picking up passengers from practice. Also, the storage space for personal items like purses, snacks, tablets, and more is abundant.

The 2025 Toyota Sienna makes driving passengers around so much easier while still being fun to drive. The hybrid powertrain cranks out 245 hp and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.5 seconds.

It has passing power that’s only about one second behind burly SUVs. It’s still got a little heft around curves, but corners well. While it is pretty large and long, it’s much easier to park than the Chevy Tahoe or Ford Expedition.

The Sienna gets an EPA-estimated 36 mpg, but I hovered around 33 mpg. That’s because I was reluctant to switch out of sport mode and slow down.

Some people complain that the second-row seats aren’t removable, but you can still stuff this van to the gills. It offers up to 33.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row and up to 101 cubes in total.

It’s the perfect option for growing families that need more space and comfort for the most important moments in life.

From starting pee wee soccer to moving into a college dorm, the Sienna is a modern, practical, comfortable, and fun option against giant, inconvenient, gas guzzlers.
