Yikes, you’re supposed to be able to trust police officers. But a sheriff in Pennsylvania has residents feeling a bit concerned. He posted a photo of a red-splattered truck and called it the ‘Protestor edition’. It seemed like it was about hitting protestors on purpose.
Pennsylvania sheriff posts red-splattered ‘Protestor edition’ truck
A social media post is giving police officers in Pennsylvania a bad look. James Muller, the Adams County Sheriff posted photos of a Ram truck covered with red paint on Facebook.
The red-splattered paint covers the hood and tires of the custom Ram 1500. He added the caption, “The All New Dodge Ram Protestor Edition”.
It prompted mixed reactions from the commuting and seemed to promote violence. The post is about a vehicle that’s used to hit protestors, which possibly promotes violence.
According to Local 21 News, the post came after a series of “No Kings” protests held across the country, including Gettysburg. While the post was removed from Muller’s page, it was shared with numerous Facebook groups.
Ram trucks probably don’t want to be associated with this type of violence. Plus, Dodge Ram hasn’t been used since 2009. Ram and Dodge split in 2010. So, along with being foul, the post shows that this Sheriff doesn’t know his trucks very well.
Americans have the right to peacefully assemble and express views via protest. This doesn’t mean you have the right to commit vehicular assault because protestors are in the way.
Some states have passed laws to deter protestors from blocking traffic with fines and possible jail time. So, don’t hit someone with your truck. They could go to jail and pay up to $2,000.
